Barby has been working as an Early Childhood Educator since the summer of 2002 after completing the Early Childhood Education program with NBCC. She worked for a number of years in a pre school setting as an Educator as well as a Child Attendant to children with special needs. She then turned her focus to school age children, working with at risk youth as a Human Service Counsellor. In 2007 Barby moved to Calgary, Alberta where she worked with the Calgary Board of Education  for over 6 years as an Education Assistant.

Upon moving back to New Brunswick in 2014 she became Lead Educator in a preschool program with Kings Valley Early Education Center in Quispamsis, before finally landing in the beautiful city of Fredericton. Barby is excited to be with Riverside Montessori and hopes to meld her experience with the philosophy of Montessori. She holds a certificate from Trillium Montessori, Montessori Assistant Toolkit, Making the Most out of the Moveable Alphabet, Materials and the Mind, Learning Letters, and the Mathematical Mind from Age of Montessori. She enjoys using these highly successful skills in the classroom. and looks forward to continuing he Montessori education.

Barby also has a passion for Holistic Health and Alternative Therapies and while living in Calgary attained her Registered Holistic Nutrition Diploma from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, Eating Psychology Coach Certification from the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, Reiki Master Practitioner Certification as well as a Ho’opono opono certification. She’s hoping to continue her education in this field as well with a new certification later this year.

When Barby isn’t home visiting in Miramichi, you’ll find her spending time with her husband out on the bike trails, at the yoga studio, in the gym or outside reading a good book.
